Mission Statement

Adam’s Angels Ministry is dedicated to serving families who have children diagnosed with, undergoing treatment or those having lost a child with childhood cancer, by providing physical, emotional, financial and prayerful support. 

 

Affiliations

Adam’s Angels Ministry works closely with CureSearch-National Childhood Cancer Foundation to promote childhood cancer awareness by serving as Advocates as well as Texas Team Leaders.  Our most recent success is the passing of the Carolyn Pryce Walker Conquer Childhood Cancer Act in July 2008.  Our ministry also works with Candlelighters, Adopt-A-Family for the holiday’s program.

 

About Our Organization

Adam’s Angels Ministry is a non-profit organization founded by Donna and Tim Culliver as a way to reach out to families who have been affected by this devastating disease.  Donna and Tim lost their four-year-old son, Adam Christian Culliver, to  Acute Myelogenous Leukemia, unexpectedly, over the course of a four-day period in January 2003. 
Adam’s Angels Ministry was formed in January 2004 under the Missions Committee umbrella of First Baptist Church in Brenham, Texas. 
As of September 2008, we are now a 501(c) (3) standing on our own, under the direction of Teri Van Horn as Executive Director.

  Board Members include Jack Ancone, Donna Culliver, Tim Culliver and James Fritz.

President - Jack Ancone

Jack has been married to his wife, Laurel , for 35 years and is father of two; Michael 24  yrs old and Alexandrea (Alex) 22 years old.  One is a graduate of Texas  A&M, with one currently at Sam Houston.

Jack is the sole owner of Applied Energy Technology Corp., since 1978, with facilities in Brenham, Texas and Tempe, Arizona.   AETC designs and manufactures pyrotechnic and explosive components that operate life-safety devices on military and commercial aircraft. 

Jack and Laurel have lived here since 1994 after discovering Brenham in 1988 and are member's of Brenham's First Baptist Church.  Jack has a strong faith and openly states that he is a believer and follower of Jesus Christ; I strive to live that out in my daily life.

Priorities:                 GOD,  Family,  friends,  employees,  business and  hobbies

Hobbies:  cutting horses, cattle, bird and water fowl hunting


Vice President - Tim Culliver

Tim was born in Jackson, Mississippi and attended the University of Southern Mississippi.  He married Donna 17 years ago and has a 16 years old son, Andrew, who is a sophomore at Brenham High School.  Tim and his family attend First Baptist Church in Brenham.

For the past 24 years, Tim has worked in the oil and gas industry but most importantly, he and Donna are the parents of "Angel Adam" and co-founders of Adam's Angels Ministry. 

Over the pasted five and half years Tim has become an advocate for children and families of childhood cancer. He also serves as Texas Team Leader for CureSearch-National Childhood Cancer Foundation. He and Donna travel to our nation’s capitol twice a year to meet with our Nation’s Leaders to make funding for childhood cancer research a national priority.  This year on our trip to Washington DC they were instrumental in the passing of the Caroline Pryce Walker Conquer Childhood Cancer Act of 2008.  This bill authorizes $30 million annually over five years to provide funding for childhood cancer research.


Secretary - Donna Culliver

Donna was born and raised in Brenham, Texas and has been married to her husband, Tim, for 17 years.  They have a 16 year old son, Andrew, and are the parents of "Angel Adam" who died of childhood cancer in January 2003.  Their family are active members of First Baptist Church in Brenham. 

Donna attended Blinn and the Southwestern Paralegal Institute, and now is a part-time manager at Nellie's in Brenham.  She is a member of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce.  Most importantly Donna, along with her husband, Tim, co-founded Adam's Angels Ministry in 2004 in memory of their son Adam, who died of childhood cancer.

Donna and Tim are advocates for childhood cancer, locally, for the State of Texas, and in Washington, D.C., on Capitol Hill.  They are Texas Team Leaders for the CureSearch - National Childhood Cancer Foundation, since 2004.


Treasurer - James Fritz

James is a native of Brenham, Texas and has been happily married to his wife, Nancy for 26 years.  James is a Christian and he and Nancy attend First Baptist Church in Brenham.  James is a Certified Public Accountant.


Executive Director - Teri Van Horn

Teri is a native Houstonian.  She and her husband moved to Chappell Hill 2 1/2 years ago, sharing their home with 11 horses.  She has one daughter, Jennifer (22), who is in the Air Force, and two step-sons, Brandon (24) and Nicholas (18).

For the past 20 years, Teri has been a professional special events planner which includes 16 years experience with fundraising for such organizations as the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Houston Symphony, and several other smaller non-profit organizations.  She is a Director on the Chappell Hill Chamber of Commerce, is active with the Washington County Leadership Alumni Organization and has published articles in both Modern Bride and Live Magazines.  She has assisted Unity Theater in their fundraising efforts and has consulted on several weddings in Washington County over the past year.  She is a Life Member of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo and recently joined the Washington County Rotary Club.
